Binaural Beats Brainwave Meditation
Special meditation for this months exclusive Patreon episode. We put together a binaural meditation that will help us reach a deep trance healing state with the help of audio waves.
What are binaural soundwaves?
Binaural beats have been researched for almost 170 years. The human brain goes through many frequency cycles everyday. When we're awake and alert, focusing on work, reading, relaxing, winding down for the night, and then while sleeping, we experience a series of different brainwaves for each state of consciousness. Each different frequency the brain experiences produces different effects on our consciousness. Using this information it’s been discovered that the brains receiving and operating frequency can in fact be altered by sound waves.
Binaural beats are what you hear when two different tones are heard in each ear, when you have headphones on for example and in the left ear you hear a nice steady tone playing, and in the right ear another tone starts playing that is slightly higher in pitch then the first tone, your brain then perceives a rhythmic beat which may sound like quick waves as it mixes the two sounds together. By listening to these waves we can actually help guide the brain into different states of relaxation. Binaural beats have been used in mediation and therapy for a very long time.
The different types of sound/brainwaves:
- Binaural beats with frequencies above 40 Hz produce Gamma waves in the brain, which are associated with higher perception, problem solving, fear and consciousness.
- Binaural beats between 13-39 Hz produce Beta waves in the brain, which effect arousal, anxiousness, active thinking and concentration.
- Binaural beats between 7-13 Hz produce Alpha waves in the brain, which are associated with awakened relaxation, meditation, drowsiness or “pre-sleep”, or that “twilight” feeling you have right before falling asleep.
- Binaural beats with frequencies between 4-7 Hz produce are Theta waves in the brain, which are associated with deep meditation, dreams, and deep sleep (REM).
- Binaural beats with frequencies under 4 Hz produce Delta waves in the brain, which are associated with the deepest levels of the subconscious, deep dreamless sleep and loss of awareness of your body.
This meditation will take us from Alpha through Theta and down into Delta waves, Then bring us back up to Alpha again.
* Do not listen to this, or any other meditation while driving. To experience the effects of the binaural soundwaves you must use stereo headphones.
